‘A Dog’s Wish’

Whether you’re traveling home for the holidays or hosting friends and family, the Christmas period can leave us all feeling a bit overwhelmed. However, for the family dog, the reemergence of decorations and scent of roasting turkey means only one thing: their former owner is coming home for the holidays, and they can’t wait to see them.
For Lincoln’s annual “Wishlist” campaign, we used this insight to create a theme around the wish for togetherness between dogs and their owners.
But, then…
What started as theme for a broadcast commercial became a real life story of reuniting dogs with their owners.
‘The Lost Dog’s of Paradise’
SOCIAL ACTIVATION
Just as our emotionally charged broadcast spot started airing the devastating California wildfires broke out, and it was an opportunity for a warm, inclusive brand like Lincoln to step up and try to help, especially given that there were thousands of dogs separated from their owners in the mayhem.
We reached out to Instagram’s leading dog influencer, The Dogist, and flew him to California, where he was able to document these dogs in their rescue shelters.
As a result…
The Dogist’s daily feed became, in effect, a virtual “Lost Dog” poster, reaching his over 3 million followers and drawing attention to the plight of these pets.
